

Children's Discovery Center South Staff!


Director Lynne began working at the CDC Central as a teacher in 2007 and soon after became the Asst Director. In 2010, she helped open CDC South and has been an on-site Director ever since. Lynne obtained a Child Development Associates Credential in 2009 and with over 100 semester hours in administration, education & child development, she has almost completed her Child Development Associate Degree.

Assistant Director Rosie started working with children in a preschool setting after she fell in love with volunteering as a class-helper. In 2004 she received her CDA certification for ages 3-5 at ACC, and landed her dream job at Children’s Discovery Center. She has worked at all 3 campuses, and has experience working with infants through school-ages. In 2012 she became an assistant director for the south campus specializing in staff development. She loves to set up sensory activities.

Assistant Director Chris is a native-born Texan from Houston. He moved to Austin in 2010. He has been working with children since he was 18 and has been at CDC since May 2012. He has his CDA certification in ages 3-5 and is continuing his education. His favorite activity in the classroom is building a massive volcano with the children in the sandbox, covering it with baking soda and letting them douse it with different colors of vinegar. Chris loves to take photographs and hike the greenbelt.

Sprouts Teacher Violeta has been with CDC since April 2013 working in the Sprouts classroom. She has her CDA certification. You can often hear Violeta singing songs to the children.

Sprouts Teacher Anne was born and raised in Knoxville, TN, but moved to Austin about 10 years ago. She has 3 sons, Wesley, Michael and Matthew. Because of them, her favorite children’s book is “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch. It is the story of the evolving relationship between a boy and his mother. She even gave a copy to her oldest son on his 18th birthday! She has worked in Early Childhood for 4 years (with 2 at CDC). She is training to be an Infant Sign Language instructor.

Beanstalk Proctor has been with CDC since May 2013 and is currently working in the Beanstalk classroom. He has a degree in communication from St. Edwards University.

Snapdragon Dani has been working at CDC since she moved to Austin in August 2013, after receiving her Bachelor's in Theatre from TAMU-CC. However, the Baltimore native has been working with kids all her life. She was a Girl Scout K-12, working at their Summer Camps once old enough. She has worked with many children's theaters, including Kids Acting in Austin.

Redbud Gy has been with CDC since May 2012, and has been a kid since he was a child. He first worked with children at age 18, and since moving to Austin in 2005 he has consistently worked as some form of teacher, instructor, or coach, though working with preschool-aged children has been his favorite by far.
